This session is suitable for marketers and business developers within SMPS at all levels, as it will talk to junior, middle and senior levels and provide practice advice. The aim of this session is to provide - through a panel of esteemed senior marketers across professional services - advice and counsel on what it means to have a seat at the leadership table, how to get the relevant people aligned and on board to actually make this happen, actual or perceived barriers and, finally, words of wisdom from people who have been in those positions and who can share their learnings for you to take forward to advance your own careers. 


About Our Speakers

Stacey Hendrich, Regional Inside Sales Manager, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.
Stacey brings 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the AEC industry with Jacobs Engineering Group, and has held a regional leadership position with Jacobs for the last nine years. As Sales Operations Manager for the Midwest, Stacey works with sales and operations leaders to develop and implement the sales target and growth plan comprised of buildings and infrastructure opportunities in an eight-state geography. She leads a team of strategic pursuits leaders, proposal managers and sales support staff supporting a large and diverse client base. Her experience includes serving as strategic pursuits leader for major, multi-office sales pursuits across the U.S representing in excess of $225M in gross margin, including large capital programs for Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Department of Aviation, Rush University Medical Center locally. Stacey holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Journalism and lives in St. Louis, MO.



Nancy Usrey, President of SMPS, National Sales and Marketing, HNTB
Nancy Usrey has over 30 years in the industry, and guides A/E/C firms to successful development and implementation of marketing and sales initiatives. Nancy was recruited by HNTB in 2008 to help the national transportation firm leverage its experience in the design-build marketplace into a major component of their portfolio. Prior to HNTB, Nancy was a recognized marketing consultant to AEC firms, known for her understanding of Federal marketing and SF330 preparation strategies as well as her ability to guide firms to successful development and implementation of marketing and sales initiatives. Nancy is a former SMPS Chapter President, a past President of the SMPS Foundation, and current President of the Society. She was a member of the inaugural class of SMPS University and one of the subject matter experts involved in developing Markendium, the SMPS Body of Knowledge.



Mark Karkazis, Assistant Director - Strategic Market Manager, Crowe Horwath LLP
Mark Karkazis has advised as well as sold to CEOs, Business Owners, Managing Partners, and others in leadership positions since the 1990s. He has had a seat at the table on issues including marketing strategy, partner development and assessment, and compensation. He currently directs marketing strategy for the Private Equity and Advisory Services groups at Crowe Horwath.



Kate Harry Shipham, Principal, KHS People
Kate Harry Shipham is the Principal of KHS People, an executive search firm placing marketing and business development professionals in law, accounting, engineering and architecture firms. Kate's background is solely within professional services. She's a former attorney and, since 2011, has been involved in executive search working solely with marketing and business development people to help further their careers. Her clients are law firms, accounting firms and within the A/E/C sector, and she's placed candidates in between all of these firms. She has a good understanding of the firm environment, sector challenges, and balance of technical and soft skills required for each role. Kate is originally from Australia and moved permanently to Chicago in 2012.

Please insert the parking voucher into the automated machine at the garage in order to receive the discount of $13 for a max of 3 hours.
