You have no doubt heard the expression, "a person is only as good as his or her reputation." The same applies to a business.

Rashod Johnson, P.E. is President/CEO of two Chicago engineering firms, will discuss how to leverage personal and firm reputations to land new commissions. He will also discuss the importance of giving back to the community; explaining how businesses that give back set themselves apart from their competitors, see improved employee morale, and develop more connections.

About Our Speaker

Rashod R. Johnson, P.E., currently serves as the President/CEO of two engineering firms located in the Chicago area: The Roderick Group, Inc. (TRG), a full-service civil engineering design firm, and Material Service Testing Laboratories, Inc. (MST), a construction materials testing laboratory. With over 20 years of construction, engineering and business experience, Mr. Johnson prides himself on being a “business professional who practices engineering,” versus an “engineer who owns a business.” This distinction resulted in success for both firms in a poor economy. Previously, Mr. Johnson worked for a major general contractor in Chicago and served as the Director of Engineering for a national trade association and a testing laboratory before founding his two engineering firms.

Mr. Johnson currently serves in many leadership roles in both technical and non-technical organizations. He sits on the national Board of Directors of The Masonry Society, the Masonry Standards Joint Committee and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He is also the Chairman for the Council for Masonry Wall Bracing. Over the past 10 years, he has taught over 100 technical seminars for contractors, architects, engineers and inspectors throughout the country. In addition, he also sits on the executive boards of the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association (IRTBA) and the National Organization of Minority Engineers (NOME). Mr. Johnson earned a B.S. and M.S. in civil/structural engineering from the University of Illinois, an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and holds professional engineering licenses in five states. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and has a 7-year-old daughter, Leila Elyse.
